9 Best Perk Combos For Destiny 2's Exotic Class Items (2024)

The release of The Final Shape expansion in Destiny 2 has brought dozens of new buildcrafting options for players to engage with. With the addition of the Prismatic subclass to your Guardian's arsenal, you can now implement abilities from your various subclasses into one in order to create your perfect character. However, you can go even further by incorporating the new exotic class item into your builds, which can roll with two exotic traits instead of just one.

In order to unlock the new exotic class item, you must complete the mission "Dual Destiny". This is a unique mission as it requires two players to complete it and is very time-constrained. So, make sure to buddy up before tackling the challenge this mission brings. For this compilation of combos, I will list the three best for each class.

9 Spirit of Caliban and the Liar

Ignition melees and extra damage

Beginning with Hunters, this class item combo looks to be the best in the game for slaying enemies and increasing survivability. Spirit of Caliban will cause all of your powered melee final blows to create ignitions, while Spirit of the Liar will cause those powered melee final blows to deal more damage. This is an inherent buff to the combination blow build, as implementing Solar ignitions will drastically increase clear potential.

This build has typically been run with Liar's Handshake, as the exotic provides additional healing. Exotic class item traits provide only a portion of the actual exotic's benefits, which is the trade-off for having two. However, creating ignitions with your melee is too great of a benefit to pass up.

8 Spirit of Renewal and Cyrtarachne

Blue AND Green Damage Resistance

This class item combo can provide your Hunter with absurd amounts of damage resistance. Spirit of Renewal will grant you stacks of Frost Armor while standing inside your Duskfield grenade, while Spirit of the Cyrtarachne will apply Woven Mail when using your grenade. This combination reaches 72.5% total damage resistance, which can also be applied to the rest of the team by using the Navigator exotic trace rifle.

This build has typically been run with Renewal Grasps, which will give you and your allies stacks of Frost Armor while standing inside the Duskfield radius, as well as reducing the damage enemies do. While this exotic is still a fantastic option for those maining Stasis Hunter, this Prismatic combination is just that much better. Adding woven mail into the mix is incredibly strong, especially within team settings.

7 Spirit of Inmost Light and Coyote

Pure Unadulterated Ability Spam

This class item combo is perfect for spamming your abilities as much as possible, especially with how easily Hunters can recharge their melee and class ability. Spirit of Inmost Light will increase the regeneration of your abilities when using them, while Spirit of Coyote will provide an additional dodge charge. This build will also technically work with Spirit of Verity instead of Spirit of Coyote if you want to focus more on grenades.

An honorable mention for Hunters includes the combination of Spirit of Galanor and Spirit of the Star-Eater. This would be incredible for casting your Super as often as possible, and could even be a way to chain empowered Golden Guns after the nerf to the exotic Hunter boots Star-Eater Scales.

6 Spirit of Inmost Light and Verity

More grenades! More fun!

Moving on to Warlocks, the kings of grenade ability spam, this class item combo is a perfect fit. Spirit of Inmost Light will increase the regeneration of your abilities when using them, while Spirit of Verity will provide a grenade damage bonus when causing final blows with a weapon matching your super. With the new super Song of Flame being as strong as it is, using Solar weapons for final blows should not be a problem.

A typical Verity's Brow build can run into problems if your grenade ability isn't always fully charged. Spirit of Inmost Light helps with this tremendously, as the Arcane Needle melee has three charges, which will each boost the regeneration of your grenades. Using the Lightning Surge aspect will also give you additional options for your melee charges.

5 Spirit of Osmiomancy and Verity

Grenade-Specific Ability Spam

This build is quite similar to the Spirit of Inmost Light, except you now dial in on grenades specifically. Spirit of Osmiomancy will recharge your grenades faster on hits and improves Coldsnap grenade tracking, while Spirit of Verity provides a grenade damage bonus when causing final blows with a weapon matching your super. However, you do not need to use Coldsnap grenade as we care more about the increased grenade regeneration.

This build is quite flexible, as you could build into whatever grenade you wish to improve the damage of, However, make sure not to select Healing grenade, as the damage stacks gained from Spirit of Verity do not apply because the grenade does no damage. If you want to use Healing grenade, try it out with the new exotic helmet Speaker's Sight for tracking healing turrets.

4 Spirit of Apotheosis and Spirit of Verity

Enhanced Abilities for DPS Rotations

This build is an outstanding choice for all boss encounters, as this will boost your total damage output by drastically increasing your damage post super. Spirit of Apotheosis will greatly increase your grenade and melee regeneration after casting your super, while Spirit of Verity provides a grenade damage bonus when causing final blows with a weapon matching your super. This works very well with the Needlestorm super, as it is one and done, allowing you to pop it and focus on weapon/ability damage.

An honorable mention for Warlocks is the combination of Spirit of Necrotic and Spirit of the Claw, which will cause your melees to inflict poison that spreads as well as provide an additional melee charge. This will allow you to spread poison through crowds of enemies. It is unclear whether the Spirit of Necrotic maintains its relationship with the Weapons of Sorrow.

3 Spirit of the Assassin and Synthoceps

The Invisible Melee Berserker

Finally, for our Titans, the classic Synthoceps build just got a whole lot better. Spirit of the Assassin will grant you invisibility with Powered melee final blows, while Spirit of Synthoceps will increase melee damage while surrounded.

Titans having a consistent source of invisibility is a huge buff to their kit, especially for solo play.

Utilizing a one-two punch shotgun for this build is a perfect choice, as this will greatly increase your single-target DPS, allowing you to quickly eliminate elite enemies for additional invisibility. There are many options for a one-two-punch shotgun, but the Wastelander M5 is quite accessible from The Dares of Eternity if you do not yet have one.

2 Spirit of the Eternal Warrior and the Star-Eater

Increased Super and Weapon Damage in DPS Rotations

This class item combo is an exceptional choice for all boss encounters, as it will dramatically ramp up your Titan's DPS numbers. Spirit of the Eternal Warrior will provide bonus damage to all weapons matching your super, while Spirit of the Star-Eater will overcharge your super by picking up orbs of power. Titans have consistently struggled with extended single-target damage, but Prismatic Titan is here to fix that.

Unfortunately, there aren't a ton of great Void weapon options in the Heavy slot for DPS outside of swords. However, the exotic sword Heartshadow and the Titan sword Crown-Splitter fit perfectly into this build. With the new raid Salvation's Edge featuring a boss to use swords on, utilizing this exotic Titan mark will increase your team's overall damage.

1 Spirit of the Abeyant and the Horn

Double barricade shenanigans

This class item combo contains some incredible synergy, as both exotic traits are tied to your Titan's class ability. Spirit of the Abeyant will increase the tracking and range of Drengr's Lash projectiles, while Spirit of the Horn will emit a Solar blast when planting your barricade. You must use a barricade for Spirit of the Horn to work, as the Solar blast does not work with the Thruster class ability.

An honorable mention for Titans is the combination of Spirit of Inmost Light and Spirit of Verity. This combination is a god roll for Warlocks (seen above), but is also incredible for Titans for enhanced grenades and ability regeneration. Use this with Frenzied Blade and Consecration for more melee charges to boost regeneration.

These exotic class item combos are shaping up to be meta-defining options, meaning you should find a buddy to quickly farm the "Dual Destiny" exotic mission. I'm currently chasing a Spirit of Caliban and Spirit of the Liar exotic class item for my Hunter. Once you've acquired the exotic class item you want the most, bring it into the new raid Salvation's Edge to truly test its power in Destiny 2.
