P-EBT Cards — Institute for Collaborative Education (2024)

Dear families,

Every family with children in the NYC public schools will be sent a $420 food stipend per child — many families have already received these in the mail — this is a program to help buy food, especially for families for whom school breakfasts and lunches were essential. You might see or hear it called the P-EBT.

If your family is enrolled in SNAP (formerly food stamps), Public Assistance or Medicaid, you will have received your stipend in the ways you regularly receive support. If not, your family will be mailed a P-EBT card — this card has your child's name on it, a unique PIN and is pre-loaded with $420 to spend at stores or markets where EBT is accepted.

We have been incredibly moved by the generosity ICE families have shown since the COVID crisis closed our school in March, and we continue to hear from families that are eager to help. If you are in the fortunate position to have food security and wish to donate your $420 food stipend to families in our community that are food insecure, you can use the card to buy your family groceries—then donate any amount you wish by making a contribution using our new ICE CARES DONATE BUTTON.

All the best,
Dianne Darbouze and Lavita McMath TurnerParent Association Co-Presidents
