Hutchison also created a special t-shirt to honor faculty and staff members who are winning the fight against breast cancer and to serve as a memorial for a beloved faculty member of 17 years, Vicki Fisher, who lost her lengthy struggle with breast cancer in May 2003.

As a class, the seniors were awarded more merit scholarship money than any other class in Hutchison's 100 year-plus history. The future graduates received 105 college acceptances to 29 colleges throughout the United States and internationally. Eighty-four percent of the girls received merit-based scholarships. Their T-shirts indicated where they are planning to attend college.

As members of the school’s Philanthropic Literacy Board, the students gain experience and education in grant writing, reviewing, selection, and awarding grant applications from the community. This year’s focus was on early childhood education allowing board members to work together to review more taan 200 pages of applications awarding up to $3,000 to a Memphis based nonprofit by year’s end. Each of the 180 bags contained an assortment of school materials, personal items and a few toys. in addition to the bags, the students donated books and supplies to the teachers of each classroom.
