Biography[]
Early life[]
Susan was an only child, and married her husband Jacob Daly. She had only one child Ruby. She worked as a high school history teacher until IAAN hit, and would have lost her job as kids started dying. Before IAAN hit, Susan would constantly drag her family to famous places around her home state West Virginia.
The Darkest Minds[]
While IAAN ranged on, Susan was extremely protective of Ruby, and would constantly hide information from her daughter in an attempt to protect her from the very real possibility of her dying. The sheltered reality was shattered when one of Ruby's classmates, Grace Somerfield, died in front of her.
The night of Ruby's tenth birthday, Susan and James got in a fight about celebrating the birthday, when Ruby asked what death was like. Susan reacted very badly to the question and she sends her daughter to her room. After Jacob and Susan went to bed, Ruby snuck into her parents rooms, and accidentally erased her parents memory of her.
When she woke up the next morning, and found Ruby in her house, she freaks out, puts the child in the garage, and locked her in there. Susan called the cops, and the PSF's picked Ruby. Because of how Ruby's powers worked, Susan's memories of Ruby were pushed into the back of her subconscious, and her feelings about Ruby remained. It is unsure what happens to her after this, but there could be a chance she lost her house.
She used to say that sometimes just saying something aloud was enough to make it true.
Never Fade[]
Susan Daly doesn't appear in this book, but it is assumed that she is traveling with her mother-in-law and husband.
In the Afterlight[]
Susan receives the news about the rehabilitation camps closing and travels with her husband and mother in law to an unknown hospital in West Virginia where Ruby was staying. Ruby had been injured at Thurmond while helping the Children's League take the camp. Ruby, who now had control of her abilities, is able to return her parents memories of her, and both are grateful for the returned memories.
Her family instantly becomes protective of the girl. Susan would meet Nicolas Ramirez, Liam Stewart, Charles Meriwether, Vida Bautista, and Suzume (Zu) Kimura while Ruby was in the hospital and she liked them. Ruby would return her parents memories. The family reconvenes at the hotel where Anabel Cruz and Lillian Gray are holding a press conference.
The Darkest Legacy[]
Susan and her family would go into hiding after Gregory Mercer attempted to murder Ruby.
