today in Carney-Frost Funeral Home. I Buri- NASHVILLE, Ind. (AP) Members of the University of Kentucky football team escaped serious injury Friday when their chartered bus collided with a car near Brown County State Park, killing two people in the car, authorities said. The crash occurred about 2:45 p.m., 2 miles west of Nashville on Indiana 46 and about a quartermile east of the west gate to the park. Kentucky Coach Jerry Claiborne and his wife, Faye, were aboard the Bluegrass Charter bus, the first of three carrying 67 players from Lexington, to Bloomington for Saturday's game with Indiana University.

When reached at his hotel room at about 4:40 p.m., Claiborne said none of his players was hurt, but he declined to comment further. In a statement released about an hour later, the Kentucky coach said, "It was an unfortunate acci- dent, and obviously a very traumatic experience for us all. We're just grateful no one in the travel party was injured." Joey Howard, a Kentucky assistant sports information director, said about 30 players were on the bus, which was struck when the car crossed the center line. The driver of the car, Charles B. Stone, 70, of Louisville, Ky.

died at the scene, according to Tony Gardner, a dispatcher at the Indiana State Police post at Bloomington. Gardner said Stone's car was eastbound when it dropped off the shoulder of the rain-slickened highway. Stone -corrected his steering and the car crossed the center line and went into the path of the westbound bus. A passenger in the car, Charles Steele, 73, of Brooksville, died in the emergency room of Bloomington Hospital of head and neck injuries about an hour after the accident, according to hospital spokeswoman Sandy Fiscus. Three other passengers were injured.

Stone's wife, Jean Carver Stone, 66, was in critical condition with severe head and internal injuries at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where she was flown by helicopter, according to Methodist spokeswoman Katherine Walsh-Miller. Steele's wife, Margaret, 61, was listed i in critical condition at Bloomington Hospital. Although state police said the couple's driver's licenses listed their hometown as Raleigh, N.C., Mrs. Steele told hospital officials they now live in Florida, Ms. Fiscus said.

Shannon Cloyd, 19, of Lexington, an Indiana University student, was treated at Bloomington Hospital for abrasions and 1 released, Fiscus said. Cloyd is the grandniece of the Stones, authorities said. Nude dancing decision is reversed By the Associated Press Nude dancing at a tavern and adult bookstore isn't constitutionally protected free speech, a federal judge ruled Friday. U.S. District Judge Allen Sharp reversed his own decision of two years ago after the U.S.

Court of Appeals overturned the earlier ruling and ordered him to hold another hearing. Sharp, who watched videotapes of the daneing, said the performances constitute conduct, not speech, and are not protected by the First Amendment. "After viewing the proffered evidence, this court must conclude that in light of Indiana Supreme Court decisions, the type of dancing these plaintiffs wish to perform is not expressive activity protected by the Constitution of the United States," Sharp wrote in Friday's de- OSCEOLA OBITUARIES Simone "Sam" Ceccanese Jr. Services for Simone "Sam" Ceccanese 71, of Fort Wayne, who died at 5:09 p.m. Thursday in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, will be at 2 p.m.

cision. "These striptease dances are not performed in any theatrical or dramatic context," he said. "Further, their conduct falls squarely within the prohibitions of Indiana's public indecency statute, which has been found constitutional." Sharp watched videotapes of four performances by dancers at the Glen Theatre and Jr's Kitty Kat Lounge, both in South Bend. The Glen Theatre has since burned down, Sharp noted. Sharp said the four performances he saw were essentially identical each with a woman disrobing to music.

"The dances are done on a stage or on a bar and are not a part of any type of play or dramatic performance," Sharp wrote. "They are simply what are commonly referred to as 'striptease' acts." The court ruling affects separate federal suits filed by dancers at the theater and bar. Sharp had issued MISHAWAKA FUNERAL NOTES Phyllis Metzgar Phyllis M. In October 1986, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago overturned Sharp's original decision.

The appellate court sent the case back to Sharp with the instruction that he review the performances and decide whether they should be afforded First Amendment protection. The women originally asked to perform their acts live in the courtroom, but Sharp rejected that suggestion. The first suit was filed in 1983 by the owners of the Chippewa Drivein theater, later re-named the Glen Theater.
